The pre-press department of today is vastly different from that of 10 years ago. With the advent of new technologies, the printing industry is one of the fastest growing areas within industry today. Faster computer processors and new software packages have allowed us to more than double our output times in the last number of years.
Our pre-press department is comprehensively equipped with the most up to date equipment, coupled with FTP (file transfer protocol) digital data transfer, ADSL data connection and e-mail communications. Additional facilities include the ICG 360 Drum Scanner, Sherpa and Canon digital colour proofing system, computerised imposition and computer to plate equipment.
We have recently installed a new workflow environment - Agfa's 'Apogee' system within our pre-press department combined with the Gallileo Computer to Plate output device. An Agfa Sherpa A2 colour digital proofer makes up the package which is based around Adobe PDF technology.

Computer to plate means we now have a completely digital workflow, which requires a new way of handling this workflow in an efficient, controlled manner. The PDF based Apogee System does all this and more, providing a complete solution that starts at the creation of a document and follows through all the way to our printing presses. Apogee allows us to convert a wide range of desktop files into pre-flighted, production ready PDF's that output reliably and exactly as intended.
